Wellington ICT Graduate School (WICTGS)
Bringing education and industry together
We’re an initiative lead by Victoria University of Wellington to help kick-start people into Wellington’s thriving tech industry.
Our one-year Master programmes were created with input from the industry and are designed to build upon people’s existing talents and skills, providing hands-on experience and real world projects.
We create direct pathways from education into employment whilst building connections between tertiary education providers and high-tech firms. We deliver relevant and diverse programmes with project and team based learning to fill the growing technology industry’s needs.
Wellington is the ideal place to study ICT
Wellington has a creative and innovative environment with a significant digital, film and gaming industry as well as a strong start-up culture. While the ICT industry has been growing rapidly throughout NZ, nowhere has this growth been more pronounced than in Wellington. With more than 16,000 ICT jobs in the Wellington region contributing significantly to the country’s ICT-related GDP, Wellington is the heart of ICT in New Zealand.
The coolest little capital in the world was named the best city in the world for quality of living by the Deutsche Bank (2018) and in the top 10 cities in the world for quality of living in a Mercer Survey (2016). Embraced by a natural amphitheatre of ocean and hill, Wellington merges big city culture with small town charm. A lively energy pulses through what is celebrated as New Zealand’s arts, film, coffee, culinary, craft beer, events and political capital.
Central, modern and purpose-built spaces
Our main campus is situated at NEC House (40 Taranaki Street) where three of our programmes (Master of Software Development, Master of User Experience Design and Master of Professional Business Analysis) are taught from. This purpose built new space has the latest technology with a range of workspaces that encourage collaboration and innovation whilst providing flexibility.
Our Master of Design Technology is taught out of the Miramar Creative Centre (a partnership with Miramar Creative) among the Weta group buildings on Park Road and offers unrivalled access to work experience and professional connections.
Our one-year (180 credit) Master programmes are designed with input from, and engagement with, industry to leave you well-equipped to join the tech industry.
