We currently offer two types of scholarships to build diversity and assist students with their finances
Māori and Pasifika Scholarships
We offered up to two full tuition scholarships for Māori and/or Pasifika students studying one of our six postgraduate programmes in 2019 and 2020. At least one must go to a Pasifika student and preference will be given to those experiencing financial hardship. Applicants must be enrolled and accepted into one of our programmes before applying this scholarship. Applicants must provide proof of ethnicity, iwi, whakapapa.
“It’s changed the way I think and the way I do my work. It’s a whole process, and I’ve also found that with everything I do now, I try to be creative.” – Petone Groom, 2019 Māori and Pasifika Scholarship recipient, who’s currently studying our Master of User Experience Design.
This scholarship will not be offered in 2021.
Weta Digital Scholarship
We offered a full tuition scholarship in partnership with Weta Digital in 2020 for our Master of Design Technology. We also offered two partial scholarships for second and third place.
Weta Digital Human Resources Manager Brendan Keys said the scholarship is an extension of the enduring relationship between the company and the school and is intended to boost applications from those interested in pursuing visual effects as a career.
To apply for this Weta Digital Scholarship (and two partial scholarships) you will need to be enrolled and accepted in the Master of Design Technology programme for March 2020, be a domestic student, and then ask for the application form (just a few quick questions) from firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications closed. Keep an eye out for 2021 opportunities.
