This Trimester, Dr Lizzie Valentine delivered the Information Systems Consulting Practice course as part of our Master of Professional Business Analysis programme.
Information Systems Consulting Practice (MBUA531) Course Coordinator and Lecturer @ Wellington ICT Graduate School
“Whether or not students go on to work as consultants, the module aims to equip students with advanced, high quality skills that are sought after by employers of all types — the ability to take a brief, write a fully developed and costed professional level business proposal, analyse and clearly communicate complex information and to present bid-winning information to clients. These are skills for life.”
Information Systems Consulting Practice is a new, practical learning module that helps students apply what they’ve learnt earlier in the degree, in a consulting context. This was the first time this course has been offered, although as their course leader Dr Lizzie Valentine had taught the course for four years at Queensland University of Technology before joining Victoria University of Wellington.
Visiting consultants from Ernst & Young (EY) and Maven Consulting that participated were very impressed by the very high standard of work the students produced, especially in the final assignment, where the students formed consulting teams to win a competitive tender to provide consulting services.
