Once again we’re offering up to two full tuition (up to $24,000) scholarships for Māori and/or Pasifika students studying one of our six postgraduate programmes offered through our partners Victoria University of Wellington, Whitireia and WelTec in 2020.
We want to help diversify the technology industry with new talent and provide opportunities for Māori and Pasifika students. Applicants must be enrolled and accepted into one of our programmes before applying this scholarship. Applicants must provide proof of ethnicity, iwi, whakapapa and preference will be given to people experiencing financial hardship. Want to learn more details?
Petone Groom, one of the 2019 Māori and Pasifika Scholarship recipients, says that our Master of User Experience Design has “changed the way I think and the way I do my work. It’s a whole process, and I’ve also found that with everything I do now, I try to be creative.”
Renee Waiwiri, one of the 2019 Māori and Pasifika Scholarship recipients, is excited for the opportunity to give back to her community with the help of this scholarship and our Master of User Experience Design. She would like to work with an organisation like Vaka Interactiv who are a Pasifika and Māori team that create impactful communications through technology. They’re currently developing interactive digital portraits that allow museum visitors to engage in conversation with cultural figures. This dialogue with portrait characters will enable museum visitors to experience ethnocultural empathy.
