Our Master UX Design students David, Paloma and Yohan are gaining invaluable`hands-on’ industry experience, working with the team at Ocular on one of their exciting current projects for The National Library.
The project focus is digitalising all Māori content to add to the existing ‘Papers Past’ public database – ensuring a fully optimized website and all Māori content utilized / displayed in culturally appropriate and sensitive ways.
Working with a Māori UX specialist, a Māori digitalisation specialist and Ocular‘s design team, our students are involved in conducting heuristic evaluations of the website / evaluative usability tests / interviews of specialists in Te Reo / Māori content digitalisation / library information systems and tikanga Māori. Analysis of this data including desk research will create suggested wireframes for the National Library. Visual reports to condense and curate information are being formulated for both specialists and non-specialists to report back to their stakeholders.
What a great opportunity for our students – a huge thank you to Stevo O’Rourke (Director, Ocular) and his team at Ocular for offering such a stimulating project!
